Bill Woods Bio

Bill Woods is the Executive Director of the Labour Market and Social Development Programs Branch (LMSDPB) with Service Canada. He is responsible for the management and delivery of Ontario Region’s Grants and Contributions programs including Opportunities Fund, Youth Programs, Aboriginal Agreements, Homelessness Partnering Strategy, Work-Sharing and New Horizons for Seniors. He is also responsible for the Temporary Foreign Worker program and the Labour Market and Socio-economic Information Directorate.  Prior to accepting the position as Executive Director of LMSDPB, he held the position of Director General, Processing and Payment Services Branch – Pensions, Ontario Region. He oversaw the processing network in Ontario responsible for Old Age Security and the Canada Pension Plan.

In his close to 30 years with the Federal Government, he has worked in a variety of programs, both at the local and regional level and has seen first hand the positive difference these programs can make to individuals and communities.  

He holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology from Queen’s University at Kingston, Ontario. Bill is a past recipient of the Ontario Federal Council group award for Leadership through Collaboration and the 2010 Ontario Region Service Canada Award for People Management.
